Does the Size of a Laptop Really Matter?
The question in mobile computing has become, “Does computer portability really matter or is it more important to have a computing machine that allows you to fit all your productivity software and save as many files as possible on your productivity machine?” Another point of concern may be whether the smaller dimensions are more concerning or if the light-weight portability is the chief matter. I think the accessibility of different types of laptops today lets us really personalize our computers into something that works for us all and doesn’t have to be generic for us all.
The announcement of the new macbookair by Apple has really given us a choice with the size and weight and what kind of mobile computer we haul around with us all the time. At less than 3 pounds and less than an inch thick, we don’t have to strain our shoulders every time we travel. It has a 13 inch LCD screen and a full-size keyboard. Why wouldn’t I be interested? This is the very quality I have been looking for.
When I first observed the advertisement for the MacBook Air with a slim, easy to handle computer coming out of that envelope, I was just in awe. Now, that’s the choice I’ve been searching for. Now it doesn’t have to be a major accomplishment to take my laptop with me any longer! No extra bag that can weigh almost as much as the laptop, no more sweating, no longer taking up so much extra room! What a phenomenon!
The never ending question of whether size really matters is here now and my answer, when it comes to a tiny portable notebook computer is a resounding, “yes, Yes, YES!” Size does matter as well as weight. For me and my laptop smaller is by far and away better.
